Get answers to the most common questions homeowners ask about roofing, siding, gutters, storm damage, and working with Northcrest Roofing and Exteriors.
General
Yes! Every project starts with a free, no-obligation inspection and estimate. We'll assess your needs, explain your options, and provide a detailed, transparent proposal with no pressure to commit.
Ask us about the current licensing and insurance documentation that applies to your project and location. We'll walk through those details during your estimate.
Warranty terms depend on the products selected and the scope of work. We'll explain any applicable coverage in writing during the estimate process so expectations are clear before work begins.
Payment options can vary by project. Ask during your estimate and we'll explain the options currently available for your scope of work.
Roofing
Most residential roof replacements are completed in 1-3 days, depending on the size and complexity of your roof and weather conditions. Larger or multi-layered roofs may take slightly longer. We'll give you a specific timeline during your free estimate so you know exactly what to expect.
We install a range of roofing materials including architectural asphalt shingles, standing seam metal roofing, and flat or low-slope systems. During your estimate, we'll recommend options that fit your home, budget, and long-term goals.
Common signs include curling, cracking, or missing shingles; granules accumulating in your gutters; visible daylight through roof boards; sagging areas on the roof deck; water stains on interior ceilings or walls; and a roof that's 20-25 years old. If you're noticing any of these, we recommend scheduling a free inspection so we can assess the condition of your roof.
Roof lifespan depends on the material. Architectural asphalt shingles typically last 25-30 years, while premium designer shingles can last 30-50 years. Standing seam metal roofs can last 40-70 years with proper maintenance. Factors like ventilation, installation quality, and Central Ohio's weather all play a role. We install every roof to maximize its lifespan.
Storm Damage
Absolutely. We have extensive experience working with insurance companies on storm damage claims. We'll help document the damage with photos and detailed reports, assist you with filing the claim, and coordinate directly with your insurance adjuster throughout the process. Our goal is to make the entire experience as stress-free as possible.
Yes. When severe weather strikes, we offer rapid emergency response to prevent further damage to your home. We can provide temporary tarping and protective measures quickly, then schedule a full inspection and permanent repair as soon as conditions allow. Call us at (740) 334-8316 for emergency service.
Hail damage isn't always obvious from the ground. Signs include dents or dimples on shingles, missing granules exposing the asphalt layer, cracked or bruised shingles, dents on metal flashing, vents, or gutters, and damaged window screens or siding. After any hailstorm, we recommend a free professional inspection since damage that looks minor can lead to leaks and bigger problems over time.
Exteriors
We work with vinyl siding, fiber cement, and engineered wood siding. Each material has different tradeoffs for appearance, maintenance, and cost, and we'll review those options with you during the consultation.
We recommend cleaning your gutters at least twice a year — in late spring and late fall after the leaves have dropped. Homes surrounded by trees may need more frequent cleaning. Clogged gutters can lead to water damage, foundation issues, and ice dams in winter. If you're tired of climbing ladders, ask us about gutter guard systems that dramatically reduce maintenance.
Energy savings vary based on the age of your existing windows, the condition of your home, and the products selected. During a consultation, we can talk through the efficiency features that may improve comfort and help reduce drafts.
